Helen M. Shoemake

CARTERVILLE- Helen Morine Shoemake, 87, of Carterville, passed away at 7:48pm on Monday December 12, 2005 at Herrin Hospital with her family by her side. Helen was born in Equality, IL on May 24, 1918 to Matthew Edward and Rosie Mae (Lyell) Davis. She married James Claude Shoemake on December 31, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He survives in Carterville. Survivors include- Husband- James Claude Shoemake- Carterville, IL 2 sons- Richard Allen (Cindy) Shoemake- Gatlinburg, TN David Matthew (Jerri) Shoemake- Thompsonville, IL 1 daughter- Connie Lee (Stanley) Garten- Herrin, IL 5 grandchildren- Jeri Lynn Morthland- Christopher, IL Teri Jo Masters- Palestine, TX Kendra Shoemake- Illinois Stephanie Crammer- Memphis, TN Shawn Shoemake- Deerefield, IL 8 great grandchildren 6 great great grandchildren 1 sister- Pauline Pyle- Herrin, IL Several nieces and nephews Helen was preceded in death by: Her parents brother- James Earl Hicks sister- Eileen Brown grandson- Mark Shoemake As per Helens wishes, her body was donated to the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Private family services were held. Arrangements are in care of Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
