Herrin- HELEN FAYE SEYMOUR-RIDDLE, age 80, of Herrin, passed away at 8:10pm on Monday, June 5, 2006 at her residence with her loving family at her side.
Helen was born in Herrin on January 16, 1926 to John Floyd and Hettie Neomi (Austin) Seymour. She married Arvin Jack Riddle in Baltimore, Maryland on March 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2002.
Mrs. Riddle was a Registered Nurse for 48 years. She trained and worked at The John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Helen then moved to California, where she worked at the Los Angeles County Hospital Jail Ward. Later, she worked at the Marion VA Hospital, where she started a clinic for those who had undergone a colonoscopy. She served as the Head Supervising Nurse for the Outpatient Department at the VA, where her get it done now attititude earned her the nickname Nurse Cratchett.
Mrs. Riddle was a member of the Herrin First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Riddle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother- John F. Seymour, and two grandchildren- Lora Boles and Joshua Nyman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Riddle will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Herrin First Baptist Church, with Rev. Don Grammer officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until the time of services on Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Herrin First Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
