Helen Tessone

CarbondaleHelen Tessone, 95, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:12 A.M. at Carbondale Rehab & Nursing Center. Helen was born on February 28, 1917 in Benton, Illinois to John and Mary (Nagy) Novak. She married Charles Ben Tessone on May 21, 1946 in Herrin. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1991. Helen was a seamstress for Smolers Brothers in Herrin for 19 years. She was also a member of the Illinois Ladies Garment Workers Union, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by her; Daughter- Mary Jones of Herrin Son & Daughter-in-lawCharles and Patricia Tessone of Freeman Spur 5 Grandchildren; Sherry Ann Reichert and husband Kevin of Murphysboro Terry Alan Short of Herrin Lynn Ann Cross and husband Andy of DuQuoin Richie Tessone and wife Amanda of Marion Rick Tessone and wife Angela of Freeman Spur Great Grandchildren- Conner Reichert Lamont, Andrew and Mat Cross of DuQuoin Dairan, Alex and Cadence Tessone of Freeman Spur Trestan Tessone of Marion Step Great Grandchild- Taylor Reichert of Murphysboro She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers- Louis, Mike, George and John Novak and two sisters- Margaret Kish and Jenny Black. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 Am, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow in San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
