Henry E. Babbs, 81, of Marion and formerly of Pacific, MO, passed away at 12:35 P.M. on November 20, 2002 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Henry was born September 8, 1921 in Henshaw, KY to Curtis and Nettie (Cornwell) Babbs; they both preceded him in death. He married Verda M. Myers on October 16, 1943 in Evansville, IN, she survives him. Henry was a retired Pipefitter for the Chrysler Corporation for most of his life. He was a Master Mason, receiving his 50-year pin and was a member of the Columbia Mason Lodge #534. Henry was a member of AFL-CIO Local 136, and the United AutoWorkers Union. Henry is survived by his wife, Verda, three daughters; Barbara English of Marion, Doris Fleener of Littlestown, PA, Janet Thompson Baker of Pensacola, FL. Seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, two brothers, Curtis Babbs of Henderson KY, and John Babbs of Gary, IN, three sisters, Dorothy Moses of Baton Rouge, LA, Ethel Babbs and Jewel Mae Miller both of Sturgis, KY. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Forest Babbs, Huston Babbs, Earl ?Bud? Babbs, and two sisters, Ruby Harness, and Jessie Nelson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2002 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 25, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. in Pacific, MO, at Bell Funeral Home with Masonic Rites being performed. There will be a visitation held from 12:00 noon until time of service. Burial will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery in Gray Summit, MO.
