HerrinHerman B. Garavaglia, 90, passed away on Friday, October 05, 2012 at 7:37 A.M. at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Herman was born on September 7, 1922 in Herrin, Illinois to John and Maria (Crespi) Garavaglia. He married Elda (Sudbrack) Garavaglia on August 15, 1950 in Herrin and together they shared sixty-one years of marriage until her death on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
He owned the Blue Front Caf in Herrin with his two brothers John & Jupie Garavaglia from the 1920s until it was sold in 1972. Herman was a member of the VFW and Our Lady of Mt.Carmel Catholic Church. He enjoyed yard work and fishing. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Herman was cremated per his wishes. A memorial mass for both Herman and his wife Elda will be held on Saturday, October, 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Inurnment will follow with military rites performed at graveside by the Herrin VFW and American Legion Posts with assistance from the Illinois National Guard. Memorial arrangements were made at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
