Hester Mae Maze, age 96, of Marion, died Thursday, August 16th, 2001 at 9:00 A.M. at Fountain Nursing Care Center in Marion, Illinois.
Visitation for Mrs. Maze was on Saturday, August 18th from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes, with funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Donnie Eberhart officiated. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery in Goreville, Illinois.
She was born July 31, 1905 in Williamson County, Illinois, to James Wiley & Ella (Craig) Ramsey. They preceded her in death. She married Ira Franklin Maze. He preceded her in death in September of 1945. Mrs. Maze was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed crafts and flowers. She was retired from the State Hospital in Elgin, Illinois, where she worked with patients doing crafts.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law: Audie Franklin Maze of Bloomfield, Missouri; William R. Maze of Marion, and Harold & Vanetta Maze of Goreville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Geneva Martin of Lakeland, Florida, Ruby & Charles Durham of Carbondale, and Barbara & Kenneth Sigafus of Freeport; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Kenneth, Everett and Carlyle Maze, two great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, Russell, Ralph, and Rome Ramsey, and three sisters, Edith McCain, Ethel Shepperd and Corey Ramsey.
