Homer Neisz, age 84, of Marion, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 6:57 p.m. in Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Homer was born on January 17, 1936, in Paducah, Kentucky, a son of Cecil and Alyne (Freche) Neisz. He married Jo Ann Fisk on February 15, 1957 in Paducah, Kentucky, and she survives. Homer worked as a construction electrician for the I.B.E.W. Local 702, West Frankfort, Illinois. He was also a member of the B.M.W. Motorcyle Owners of America. Homer loved riding motorcylces, fishing, hunting and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Jo Ann Neisz of Marion; one son, James (Mary Ann) Neisz of Anna, Illinois; and a step-granddaughter, Kimberly (Mickey) Williams of Carterville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Nicholas Neisz.
Homer’s wishes were to be cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at Mount Kenton Cemetery in Paducah, Kentucky, on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kim Lee-Brown officiating. Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Marion, Illinois or a charity of the donor’s choice, and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 N. Market St., Marion, Illinois 62959.
