Marion Ida Caroline Dettmer, 93, passed away at 3:35 P.M. Wednesday, December 08, 2004 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home.
Ida was born December 20, 1910 to Henry and Louise (Wickert) Dettmer in Marion.
Ida was employed as a secretary for Alcoa, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois. After her retirement from Alcoa in 1973, she returned to Marion to reside with her sister. Prior to Idas blindness, her hobbies were reading, quilting and crafts. She was a member of the Marion Arts and Crafts Club.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion.
Ida is survived by her sister Matilda Dettmer, nieces, Helen and Joe D. Linck; Luetta and Donald Broeking; Sharon and B.J. Simmons; Satoe Dahmer and Charlene Dahmer. Several great nieces and great nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Emma Dahmer, brothers, August Dettmer and William Dettmer, niece, Rozetta DeRossett and two nephews Billy Dahmer and Leon Dahmer.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Ken Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. There will be no visitation.
For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
