Herrin- Ida E. Crespi, 87, of Herrin, passed away at 5:25 PM, Friday, August 5, 2005 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Ida was born on October 20, 1917 in Herrin to Louis A. & Elena (Berra) Crespi. She retired from Smoller Bros. Inc. in 1983 where she worked as a button maker. Miss Crespi was a devout catholic and an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was a member of the Daughters of Mary. Ida enjoyed her family and friends. She went out with her girlfriends every Saturday night and looked forward to visiting her relatives in Wisconsin each August. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and a St. Louis Cardinal fan. SURVIVORS: Brother in law- Russell Grundy- Minocqua, WI Nephew- Russell Grundy & wife Jane- Hartford, WI Nephew- Kevin Grundy & wife Lori- Wausau, WI Niece- Kathy Schneck & husband Gary- Wausau, WI Niece- Lynda Morre & husband Tom- Pleasant Hill, CA Niece- Mary Margaret Bradley & husband Adam- Minneapolis, MN Niece- Susan Beasom & husband Paul- Anchorage, AK Niece- Jennifer Schabow & husband Ryan- Sacramento, CA Eleven Great Nieces & Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew; David Grundy, sisters; Elaine Grundy & Josephine Crespi, and two brothers; Nasi & Jackie Crespi. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Monday, August 8, 2005 at the funeral home. A prayer service will be recited at 6:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the OLMC/ St. Marys Education Foundation and will be available at the funeral home.
