Marion Ida E. Priest, 74, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 5:55 A.M. at the St. Marys Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia. Ida was born January 29, 1936 in Marion the daughter of John and Verna (McRoy) Crain. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Cecil Smith. She married Lonnie Priest on August 11, 1956 in Marion and together they shared over 52 years of marriage until his death on August 30, 2008. Mrs. Priest was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Marion. She was a retired third grade school teacher at McKinley Grade School in Marion. Ida was devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved creating crafts, gardening, and tending to her yard. She had served as a former officer of the Marion Gardening Club. Survivors include- Son- Lonnie S. Priest Jr and wife Mari of Lakewood, WA Daughter- Dianne Pansing & husband Bryan of Jackson, AL Son- Lance Priest of Dallas, TX Grandchildren: Bradley & Branson Pansing of Jackson, AL She was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-father, and husband Lonnie. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Second Baptist Church of Marion with Rev. David Blue officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Lighthouse Shelter of Marion. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the church and at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N.
