Ida Holmes

Marion Ida Holmes, 96, of Mesquite, TX formerly of Marion, died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 8:43 A.M. at Balch Springs Nursing Home in Balch Springs, Texas Ida was born January 24, 1907 to William and Julia (Irvin) Boner in Tunnel Hill Township. She married Dan Simmons, who preceded her in death on July 03, 1952, she then married Clarence Holmes on July 03, 1953 in Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1994. Ida was a Nurses Aid at Aurora Hospital in Northern Illinois until her retirement. She was a member of and former Sunday School Teacher at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church Survivors include: 2 Daughters Avolene Vaughn and her husband Loren of Creal Springs Bertha Hundley and her husband Jim of Mesquite, Texas Seven (7) Grandchildren: Pat & Charles McCabe- Vernon, IL Gale & Ann Simmons- Creal Springs Jerry & Linda Vaughn- Creal Springs Wendell & Glenda Simmons- Grantsburg, IL Terry Simmons- Springfield, IL Sharon Vaughn- Marion Karen & John Adair- Mesquite, TX Six Great-Grandchildren Six Great Great Grandchildren Preceded by: Parents, Husbands, One (1) Son; Ward Simmons, two stepbrothers, six brothers, and four sisters. and Brothers Funeral services will be Friday, October 31, 2003 at 12:30 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Howard McDannel officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Cemetery in Tunnel Hill. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 A.M.until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to New Salem Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
