Marion- INA S. TRAMMELL, age 89, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord at 11:55pm on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home.
Ina was born in Marion on September 14, 1920 the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Burnett) Sparks. She was a lifelong resident of Marion. She married Charles Lindorf Trammell of Stonefort. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Trammell was a 1937 graduate of Marion High School and a longtime faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church in Marion, where she served as church clerk for many years. She was the commercial manager of radio station WGGH in Marion for twenty years. She later worked for the Southern Illinois power Co-Op, retiring in 1985. Ina was the first female member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce and was an avid gardener. As long as her health permitted, she actively participated and worked in the Senior Adult Ministry at First Baptist Church and especially enjoyed preparing meals for international students of Southern Illinois University. Mrs. Trammell was recognized by her church for her many years of dedicated service. During her lifetime, she was a consistent, positive influence and example to her family, friends, and those who knew her. She was a beloved daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was a person who demonstrated her faith in Christ through the way she lived her daily life.
She is survived by her son- George Robert Trammell and wife Sue of Marion; her daughter- Nancy Charla Finney and husband Norm of Gallatin, TN; grandchildren- Sarah Beth (Finney) Van Dyke of Louisville, KY, William Trammell Finney of Mt. Joliet, TN, and Elizabeth Leigh Trammell and Christopher Charles Trammell both of Marion; sister- Betty Sparks Farris of Maitland, FL; sister-in-law-Betty Ann Trammell of Stonefort. Also surviving are her nephews, nieces, and families- H.V. Wes and Joy Trammell of Stonefort, Charles and Doris Edwards of Thompsonville, Marvin and Debbie Edwards of Springfield, Victor Farris of Leesburg, FL, Elizabeth Venable of Germantown, TX, Mary Sparks of West Bend, WI, Ellen and Bob Roup of Sarasota, FL, Ron Farris of Orlando, FL, and Don and Chris Farris of Tampa, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters- Lucille Edwards and Frances Jones, and two brothers- Lloyd and Maurice Sparks.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Trammell-Bolton Cemetery in Stonefort. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, April 12, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
