Inez Marie Jacques

Herrin- Inez Marie The Flower Lady Jacques, 95, of Herrin, passed away at 11:59 PM, Monday, March 7, 2011 at her home. Inez was born on September 28, 1915 in Muhlenberg, KY to George Washington & Katie M. (Mount) Rone. She was a homemaker and cared for her family. She spent twenty one years as the Bar Manager at the American Legion Hall in Herrin. She was a former member of the Herrin American Legion Ladies Aux. She enjoyed flower gardening and had quite the green thumb. The Southern ran an article about her flower gardens in the newspaper and she was referred to as The Flower Lady thereafter. She could grow anything but tomatoes. Survivors include- Son- Wendell L. Hap Green of Herrin Niece- Linda Lane Hedges of Valparaiso, IN Nephew- Keith Lane and wife Jan of The Woodlands, TX Nephew- Gordon Lane and wife Kathleen of Roswell, GA Nephew- Dennis Rone & wife Ann Marie of Herrin Several Great Nieces and Nephews Several Great Great Nieces and Nephews Close friends: Ray & Lou Ann Pierce of Herrin Pauline Pike of Herrin Audrey Vose of Herrin She was pre ceded in death by her parents, brothers- Raymond Talbot Rone, Elwood Glenn Rone & Clarence Rone and sisters- Ruby E. Rone & Lyndell Mae Lane. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 11, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or a charity of the donors choice which benefits children in need and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St./ Herrin, IL 62948.
