Irene Sherrard

Herrin- Irene Sherrard, age 94, of Herrin, passed away at 10:53am on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at The Voyage Assisted Living Center in Herrin.

Irene was born in Ferges on February 5, 1927, the daughter of Clyde and Mamie (Phelps) Donahue.  She married Alfred H. Sherrard in Johnston City on June 5, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2003.

Mrs. Sherrard was a member of the Ferges Free Methodist Church.  She had worked as an LPN for Herrin Hospital for more than forty- three years, retiring in 1979.  Irene enjoyed painting, puzzles, coloring, gardening, caring for her flowers, and bird watching.  She was a member of the Williamson County Home Extension and Herrin Cancer Support Team.

Survivors Include:

Son & Daughter-In-Law: Bruce & Tammy Sherrard of Herrin, IL.

Son & Daughter-In-Law: Jim & Kathy Sherrard of St. Peters, MO.

Daughter: Cathy Bymaster of Altamont, IL.

One Sister- Pearl Hickey of Florrisant, MO

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers- George Robison, Robert Burt, Clyde Donahue and Roy Donahue, two sisters- Lily Harvel and Mabel Lezu, and her son-in-law- George Bymaster.

Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 7, 2021                                            at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Robert Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1-2pm on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
