Irene Tanner Legereit, age 86, of Energy, died Tuesday, September 25th at 3:50 P.M. at Herrin Hospital in Herrin. Visitation for Mrs. Legereit will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, September 28th at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, the 29th, with Revs. Rudy Bond & John Barrera officiating. Burial will follow in Coal Bank Springs Cemetery in Dykersburg.
Mrs. Legereit was born March 15, 1915, in Williamson County, Illinois to Orba and Minnie (Shaw) Tanner. She was a member of the Friendly Regional Church of God. Survivors include one son, Richard L. Legereit of Okeechobee, Florida; one daughter, Phyllis Gail Bear of Westminster, Colorado; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Legereit of Tilden; nine grandchildren, Kelli McCormick, Crystal Thomase
Vicki Gulianio, Jeff, Chris, Clayton & Tina Legereit, and Tim & Mike Bear. She also leaves fourteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Paul Tanner of Columbus, Ohio, and one sister, Delores Jordan of Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Wayne Legereit, one daughter, Leah Diane Legereit, and two sisters, Pearl Hendrick & Margarite Odum.
