Irene Wright

Marion Irene M. Wright, 88, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 11:30 P.M. at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Irene was born April 20, 1922 in Johnston City the daughter of Pete & Jennie (Mazy) George. She married Galen Woodiel on October 10, 1940 in St. Charles, Missouri and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1963. On January 19, 1980 she married Lyman H. Wright in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1988. She was an ER nurse, retiring from the Poplar Bluff Hospital after 25 years. Irene enjoyed gardening and canning. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her; Son James Woodiel of Topeka, Kansas Daughter Donna LeGrand and husband Ralph of Marion Two Grandchildren; Jeffrey LeGrand of Marion Connie Staples and husband John of Goreville Four Great Grandchildren; Jessica & Sarah LeGrand of Goreville Dustin & Megan Staples of Goreville Sister Lena Vash of Bicknell, Indiana Preceded by her Parents, husbands, one brother and 5 sisters Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will be at 3 P.M. at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
