Israel Douglas James, 77, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2002 at 11:48 P.M. at Massac Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at First Methodist Church in Metropolis Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Rev?s West Osborn and Earl Black will officiate. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements.
Israel was born in Carterville to Richard and Katherine (Waldron) James. He was employed as a stocking clerk in a grocery store in Metropolis and also a custodian at the Massac County Court House, and a member of the First Methodist Church of Metropolis.
He is survived by a brother and sister in law, Calvin and Retha James of Marion, a brother, Edward James of Herrin, a sister, Alberta Dawson of Marion, six nieces, Lana Murphy of Marion, Janice Grimes of Hillsboro, Shirley Williams of Carterville, Kathleen Turner of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Elaine Culberth of Johnston City and Francis Harvell of Hillsboro, Fifteen great nieces and nephews and seven great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Two sisters, Three Brothers in laws and two sisters in laws.
