Jack L. Leach

Hurst- Jack L. Leach, 88, of Hurst, died at 12:05 AM, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Jack was born on February 6, 1922 in Blairsville to Fount & Della (Harper) Leach. He married Dessie Davie and she preceded him in death in 1979. Jack was a WWII Army combat veteran. He was honorably discharged as a corporal and awarded the Purple and Bronze stars for his bravery. He was retired and formerly worked as a laborer, mechanic, carpenter and truck driver. He enjoyed time spent in the outdoors and watching wildlife. Survivors include- Daughter- Beverly Morgan of Marion Grandchild- Robert Morgan of Marion Great Grandchild- Richard Morgan and wife Emily of Anna Great Grandchild- Brandy Morgan of Marion Great Great Grandchild- Gabriel Morris of Marion Brother- Sam Leach and wife Jennie of Royalton Sister- Maxine Hinchcliff of Blairsville Sister- Lillian Masters of New Carlisle, IN Several nieces and nephews Sister in law- Elaine Leach of Waukegan He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers- Monroe and Fred Leach, nephew- Mickey Masters and niece- Linda. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Greg Eastman will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until time of service, Sunday, at the funeral home.
