Herrin- JACK LEONARD ODOM, age 68, passed away at 2:50pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his home in rural Marion.
Jack was born in Herrin on December 5, 1944, the son of Herschel and Aileen L. Odom.
Jack retired from General Telephone- Robertson Vending. He proudly served in the United States Air Force Special Forces. While in the Air Force, he appeared in a James Bond movie. Jack was active in the recovery of the Gemini Space Capsule. A graduate of Herrin High School, Jack was involved in preparations for the 50th High School Reunion but was not able to attend due to illness.
Jack enjoyed his 9am breakfast with friends at Chucks BBQ on Fridays. He extensively studied genealogy, especially that of the Harrison family who were early settlers in Herrin. Jack also enjoyed researching the Herrin Massacre and history of Herrin. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and keeping in contact with his many friends on facebook.

Two nieces- Marla Coriasco of Marion
Darla and Jimmy Cislaghi of Crab Orchard
Nephew- Jack and Thadra Coriasco of Herrin
Several Great Nephews and Great Nieces
Longtime Childhood friend- Riley Anderson of Herrin
Cousin- Gary Odom of Herrin
Graveside services will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Military honors will be performed at graveside by Herrins VFW and American Legion Posts. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Saturday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
