Herrin -Jack S. Henderson, 93, died at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Herrin Hospital.
He was born November 22, 1909 in Torrington, CT to John and Louise (Parola) Henderson.
He married Beulah Paula Kuehner September 12, 1948 in Herrin. She survives of Herrin.
He was a coal miner for 43 years. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp in World War II with the 8th Air Force 305th Bombardment Group. He was the top gunner on a B-17 and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Metal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters after the completion of 35 missions over Germany and 6000-plane raid of Wittenberge, Germany.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He spent his days gardening, hunting, fishing and searching for Indian artifacts in southern Illinois.

Cousin - Charles "Chuck" Parola of Herrin who has proven to be a loyal and devoted friend to both Jack and his wife and helped them in so many ways through difficult and trying times.

Sister in law - Natalie and Arnold Walta - Auburn, WA

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mack Henderson and one sister Josephine Newell, cousin and fishing pal, Lester Parola.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Michael Henson will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy, IL.
