Herrin- JACQUELINE MAE FANNING, age 72, of Herrin, went home to be with her Lord at 8:40pm on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Jacqueline was born in Herrin on April 23, 1937, the daughter of W.O. and Inez (West) Pitts. She was adopted at the age of twelve by Thomas and Bessie West, with whom she had always lived. She married M.R. Fanning in Herrin on November 23, 1967. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fanning was a member of the Union Gospel Mission for more than forty years and was currently a member of Harvest Time Worship Center in Herrin where she also enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She retired from Ameren CIPS in May of 2002 after thirty-one years of service. Jacqueline loved to sing, play the piano, knit and crochet. She was also an avid reader.
Survivors include her loving son and Daughter-In-Law- David W. and Jana Fanning of Herrin, IL; One granddaughter- Emma Katherine Fanning of Herrin, IL; Half-Brother- Anthony Craig of Montana; Cousins- Barbara King of Trenton, IL and Thomas Wright of Blairsville, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Pastor Todd Hawk and Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Monday, May 25, 2009 at the funeral home.
