James C. Cox

Marion- JAMES C. COX, age 90, of Marion, passed away at 6:48am on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion. James was born in Marion on January 31, 1920, the son of George W. and Ada (Clutts) Cox. He married Viola Issler in Harrisburg on July 23, 1950. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2008. Mr. Cox was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion. He retired from US Fish and Wildlife after 38 years. James proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include his Daughter-Kyle Bird of Herrin, IL Seven grandchildren: Melody Wedding & husband David of Herrin Scott Bird & wife Alba of Buda, TX Angelique Jones & husband Richie of West Frankfort David Bird of Herrin Kevin Bird of Elgin Kenny Bird of Elgin Don Bird & wife Von of Whitwell, TN Nine Great Grandchildren One Great Great Grandchild Nephew- Mike and Dana Forbes of Marion, IL Nephew- Bob and Marilyn Cagle of Marion, IL Brother-in-law- Fred Issler of Harrisburg, IL He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sisters- Mildred Milligan and Beaulah Cagle. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Holst officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11am on Tuesday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
