James Cecil Pack, age 80, of Marion, Illinois, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020, at 2:43 a.m. in Heartland Regional Medical Center.
James was born on December 16, 1939 in Monteagle, Tennessee to Ernest and Beulah Mae (Gilliam) Pack. He married Mildred (Mofield) Norris on November 26, 1972 in Shawneetown, Illinois and she survives. James worked as a tree line clearer for the I.B.E.W. Local 702, West Frankfort, Illinois. He later owned and operated Pack’s Tree Service. James was a previous Deacon and member of Scottsboro Independent Church of God, and later attended various other local churches.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Norris-Pack of Marion; six children, Sherry and Larry Evrard of Pittsburg, Kay and Jim Conger of Pittsburg, Penny Strobel of Marion, John and Jamie Norris of Marion, Joe and Tonya Norris of Creal Springs, Cindy and Rodney King of Marion; eight grandchildren, Jason Evrard and Kim Walker, Hassi and Marty Loucks, Stephanie and Tom Petitt, Sabrina and Dustin Harmon, Kelli Gravatt, Lacey and Logan Corbett, Kolton King and Katie Jones, Cheyenne King, thirteen great grandchildren and one on the way, two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen and Phil Fullhart, Lucy and Don Morgan, Pam and Glenn Hodges, one brother, Jeff Pack.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Pack; first wife, Loretta (Fullhart) Pack; brothers and sisters, Anthony Pack, Steven Pack, Carolyn Blackburn, Debra Pack, Howrie Pack.
DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND BY THE SIGNING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER BY GOVERNOR J.B. PRITZKER, a private funeral service and visitation will be held at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.
For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 N. Market St., Marion, Illinois 62959.
