Marion- JAMES E. BRUSH, age 81, of Marion, passed away at 12:57pm on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
James was born in Marion on March 20, 1926 the son of James E. and Myrtle (Clark) Brush. He married Dorothy Howell. On March 10, 1962, James married Dorothy Rupert in Cerro Gordo, IL. She survives in Marion.
Mr. Brush was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. Before his retirement from the United States Army in which he served proudly from 1944 thru 1966, he served as an honor guard bringing fallen comrades back from war. He served with General Patton during World War II in the 11th Armored Division and also in the Korean War. He was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was one of the liberators of the Mauthausen and Gusen Concentration Camps in Austria. After his retirement, he worked in Fish and Wildlife. James was a licensed pilot and had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, and boating.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one sister- Betty Estes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 6, 2007 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Earl Black officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery with military rites performed at the graveside. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until the time of the service on Friday, July 6, 2007 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
