James E. Campbell, age 79, of Marion, died at 4:45 P.M. Thursday, May 24th, 2001, at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Visitation for Mr. Campbell was held Monday, May 28th at the Marion First Apostolic Church, and the funeral service was at the church at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 29th. Rev. Ron Walls officiated. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.
Mr. Campbell was born December 17, 1921 in Marion, the son of Audie & Cora (Graves) Campbell. He married Fredia Murphy on June 22, 1946 in Marion.
He was a member of Marion First Apostolic Church. He was also a World War II Veteran. Mr. Campbell had worked as a tree trimmer for Ameren CIPS.
His survivors include his wife, two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta (& Robert) Harper of Creal Springs and Pat (& Dennis) Avripas of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Gary R. Hearn, Lisa Harris, Tami Tyler, Lori McAnelly, Melody Fosse; eleven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Kimberly Webb and Kelly Neuschwander; four sisters, Pearl Porter of Ft. Myers, Florida; Opal Tepovich of Tilden, Thelma Thompson of Salem, and Helen Jones of Marion. He was preceded by one brother, Clyde Campbell and one sister, Maxine Morgan.
