Creal Springs James Kenneth Johns, 83, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 11:01 A.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Kenneth was born June 10, 1924 in Johnson County to Ray & Gladys (Bradley) Johns. He married Helen Imogene Davis on August 16, 1952 and together they shared over 54 years of marriage until her death on November 20, 2006. Kenneth proudly served his country during WWII, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMW of A, and the Arnold View Baptist Church. He loved fox and rabbit hunting although he would never take a gun. Survivors include: Son Keith Johns and wife Gayla of Marion Daughter Monica Neice and husband David of Thornton, Colorado Four Grandchildren; Justin Johns of Arlington Heights Jamie Johns of Marion Andrew Neice of San Jose, California John Neice of Seattle, Washington Great Granddaughter Gracie Brother Robert Johns and wife Bonnie of Creal Springs Four Sisters; Mary Vinson of Creal Springs Rosalie Wolaver of Creal Springs Pat Boyd and husband Donald of Crab Orchard Edith Parks and husband Herman of Marion Sister-in-law Laura Johns of Creal Springs Preceded by Parents, Wife - Imogene and Brother John Thomas JT Johns Funeral services will be Sunday, June 24, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Ryan and Rev. Shorty Alsip officiating. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by Marions VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the County Line Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
