James Loren Sanders, age 73, of Marion, died Sunday, September 2nd at 9:26 A.M. at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois.
Visitation for Mr. Stafford was from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 4th at Mitchell-Hughes and resumed at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 5th at Second Baptist Church in Marion. The funeral service was at 1:00 P.M. that day with Drs. Bob Wagner & Ray Fuller officiating. Burial with military rites was at the Cypress Masonic Cemetery in Cypress, Illinois. Memorials for Mr. Sanders may be made to the Marion Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
He was born April 26, 1928 in Percy, Illinois to Roscoe & Winifred (McKenzie) Sanders. He married Dixie Miller on July 1st, 1954 in Karnak, Illinois. Mr. Sanders was retired from Southern Illinois Power Cooperative. He was a Korean Army War Veteran. He was a member of Marion Second Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie, of Marion; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick & Tina Sanders of Greenville, South Carolina; one daughter & son-in-law, Debbie & Mark Roberts of Louisville, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Christopher & Matthew Sanders and Jessica, Joshua & Rachel Roberts; three brothers, Darrell Sanders of Karnak; Harold & Jack Sanders of Columbus, Indiana; four sisters, Virginia (Jenny) Snell of Cypress and Evelyn Bishop, Betty Little & Anna Barnett, all of Karnak. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Sanders.
