Herrin - James Reid Rodney, 91, died at 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at Herrin Hospital. Mr. Rodney was born October 6, l9l0 in Herrin to Joseph and Cecelia (Reid) Rodney. He married Marguerite Reed on December 24, l935 in Herrin, IL. She survives. He was a retired coal miner and worked at Old Ben Coal Company No. 24. He was a member of Herrin First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in WW II. He was a member of UMWA #l345. Survivors include: Wife - Marguerite Rodney - Herrin Dtr and son in law - Carrol and Jonathan Otto-Chester, VT Son and dtr in law - Larry Dean and Saundra Rodney -Owensboro, KY 4 Grandchildren - Samuel Osheroff - Seattle, WA Joseph Osheroff - New York, NY Tara Beckwith and husband Michael - Louisville, KY Laura Ashley Renner and husband Christopher - Nashville, TN 1 great grandson - Ryan Peyton Beckwith - Louisville, KY Brother - Kenneth Rodney - Washington, IL Nephews and nieces - Glen and Denise Reed - Herrin Alan and Cindy Rodney - Washington, IL Arlene Myers - St. Charles, IL Peggy Jo and Al Campem - Bartonville, IL Janice Antista - Chimo, CA Ronald and Dotty Garavalia - Lake Placid, FL Special Friends - James Paxton - Herrin Everett Jennings -Herrin Ernie Grounds - Herrin John Howerton - Herrin Many Friends and Neighbors Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, IL. Revs. Paul E. Tirey and Ralph Brandon will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Herrin City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Herrin First Baptist Church or Herrin Hospital Auxiliary and will be accepted at the funeral home.
