James W. "Jake" Key, 90, passed away at Marion Memorial Hospital Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 11:33 A.M.
Funeral services will be held at Mitchell-Hughes funeral home Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with Veterans rite?s performed by Hyde Pillow Post of Marion. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday till time of service. Memorials may be made to Alzeimer?s Association.
James was born August 17, 1911 in Marion to Guy and Kate Key. He married Jessie M. Travelstead on August 16, 1947 in Marion.
James was a retired truck driver from Speclor Trucking and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a member of the Church of God in Marion. James was a World War II veteran proudly having served in Italy and Africa where he was awarded the Silver
Battle Star. He loved the outdoors, working in his yard and tending to his pigeons.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie of Marion; a son, James M. and Melody Key, of Johnson City; a daughter, Marsha Key Krivanko, of Marion; a step-daughter, Joanne and Greg Lambert of Marion; and eight grandchildren; James Key Jr., Jamie Key, Amber Krivanko, Shirl Bloodoworth, Terra Elias, Dena Johnson, Kayse Dixon and Joseph Dixon, and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Betty Richey of Marion, and Gerty Earl of Madisonville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and John Key and two sisters, Elizabeth Key, and Emogene Ragain.
