James William (Duke) Curry

James William Duke Curry, 60, formerly of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, September 04, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the VA Medical Center in Marion. Mr. Curry was born October 28, 1946 in Corinth the son of Ollie James & Anna (Bell) Curry. He married Betty June Beasley on July 26, 1969 in Poordo and together they shared over 34 years of marriage until her death on July 5, 2004. James was a Vietnam Navy veteran. He was self-employed. Survivors include: Son Gerald Curry and wife Tabatha of Marion Daughter Rebecca Abernathy and husband Richard of Marion Six Grandchildren; Nick, Shawn and Allen Abernathy and Ethan, Aaron and Logan Curry all of Marion Sister Shirley Hoyle of Marion Significant Other Carolyn Hawkins Preceded by Parents, Wife Betty and Grandson Michael Curry Funeral services will be Friday, September 7, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Dial officiating. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery in Creal Springs. Military rites will be performed by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion #147 and National Guard Unit. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
