Janavee Fries

Janavee Fries, age 86, of Marion, died Saturday, July 21st, 2001 at 10;40 P.M. at Parkway Manor in Marion. Visitation for Mrs. Fries will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, July 23rd at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 24th with Dr. Joey Brent officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimers Association or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Mrs. Fries was born May 11, 1915 in Marion to Byrl & Tilda (Killman) Turner. She married Leo W. Fries on July 5, 1941 in Hernando, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2001. Mrs. Fries retired from Marion Unit 2 school system on June 30, 1975. She served 25 years as the school district treasurer. She held several jobs prior to joining the school system, including Soil Conservation Service office, States Attorneys office, County Superintendent of Schools office, and an insurance office. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion. She also volunteered her time working with the Pink Ladies at the Marion Memoral Hospital Auxilary. Survivors Include her sister-in-law, Lela King of Marion; two nephews, Roger King & wife Pam of Marion and David King of Rockport, IL.; one Niece: Sandra Russell & husband Earl of Carlinville, IL.; three Great Nephews: John, Charles & Gregory Cooksey; one Great Niece: Jana Knor; and several cousins: Anna Killman , Manda Turner, Bernard Motsinger, Opal Turner, and Naomi Richey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers-in-law, Lester King & Elmer (Tuggle) Fries, and one sister-in-law, Reba Fries. .
