Janice Darlene Wiseman, age 83, formerly of Johnston City and Energy, passed away at 7:11 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Anchor in Marion.
Janice was born October 4, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Talton Marion and Etta Virleen (Cheney) Cooper. She married Lawrence 'Larry' Dean Wiseman on July 30, 1968 in Jonesboro, Illinois. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Chicago Illinois Temple on August 9, 1994. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1998.
Janice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in West Frankfort, where she enjoyed teaching the children for many years. She also served as Relief Society secretary. While living in Energy she was the secretary of the Young Oldies Resident Council. She used her great cooking skills at many different restaurants. She worked for Lynwood Shelter Care and Mattingly's as a nursing home aid. She was also a bookkeeper for her husband's auto repair business.
Janice is survived by sons Kerry Bruce Crawford and Perry Neal Crawford (Anne), both of California, 13 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister Diane Runyan and close friend Sue Herzog.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Talton Duane Cooper and his wife Judy, sisters Cherrie Lee Cooper and Franetta Mae Sherfey, infant brother Gary Grayson Cooper, daughter Yvonne Elaine Crawford, sons Larry Joe and Mitchell Dean Wiseman, grandchildren Mindy Nicole, Derrick Allen, Ryan Keith and Kayla Susanne Yvonne Crawford.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 1 pm at Whiteash Cemetery. Bishop Chris Behan will be officiating.
The family expresses their gratitude to the Anchor and Hospice of Southern Illinois for their compassionate care of our mother.
Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with the arrangements.
