Herrin- JEAN MARILYN MIRA, age 87, of Herrin, passed away quietly at 2:45am on Tuesday, July 14, 2010 at her home with her husband of 64 years by her side. Jean was born on March 14, 1923 in Louisville, KY, the first child of Louis and Roberta Fanelli. She married Mario Mira on April 26, 1946 at New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He survives in Herrin. Mrs. Mira was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was past president of the Daughters of Isabella. Jean retired from the Shagbark Council where she worked part time as a bookkeeper. Surviving are her husband- Mario Mike Mira of Herrin, IL Son- David Mira and wife Joan of Marshall, IL Daughter-in-law- Janet Mira of Herrin, IL Brother- Morris Fanelli and wife Sandy of Smyrna, GA 4 Grandchildren- Julie Corzine Mira of Herrin, IL Jeremy Mira and wife Heather of Paducah, KY Michael Mira and wife Jolene of Pennsylvania John Mira and fianc Jamie Rea of Herrin, IL 9 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her son- Donald Mira, brother- Louis John Fanelli, and a sister- Beatrice Stevens. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 9am until time of services at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may me made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel- Education Foundation.
