Jeanne Book

Herrin- Jeanne Book, 60, of Herrin, formerly of Fairfield, IL, passed away at 1:06 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2009 at her home. Jeanne was born on December 9, 1948 in Mt. Vernon, IL to John W. & Naomi (French) Book. She formerly worked in the proofreading department of the Wayne County Press and at Wal-Mart, but more recently she worked for several years in various positions at Target. Jeanne attended the First Christian Church in Herrin. She enjoyed cooking gourmet food and experimenting with different tastes. In her spare time she enjoyed reading murder mysteries and spending time with her beloved dog Maggie. Survivors include- Son- Gary Short & girlfriend Alicia of Fairview Heights, IL Daughter- Cheri Phillips & husband Jason of Herrin Daughter- Nicole Short & boyfriend Brian Levin of Nederland, CO Seven Grandchildren: Hannah, Zoe, Calli & Heath Phillips of Herrin Justin Short of Nederland, CO Gavin Short of Centralia, IL Alex Short of Fairview Heights, IL Brother- John Book & wife Ginger of Lansing, MI Brother- Jim Book & wife Carole of Benton, IL Sister- Kathy Arnold & husband Bill of Carmi Sister- Barbara Abeln & husband Mike of Maple Grove, MN Several nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 6, 2009 at The First Christian Church in Herrin. Rev. Ron Henwood will officiate. A time of gathering and remembrance will begin at 2:00 PM and extend until time of service, Saturday at the church. Memorial arrangements were made at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society.
