Herrin - Jennie Salmo Marando, 90, died at 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at Friendship Health Care Center in Herrin.
Mrs. Marando was born February 20, 1912 in Herrin to Pete and Tressi (Cherolli) Salmo.
She married Pete Marando January 10, 1942 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Msg. Robert DeGasprie officiated. Mr. Marando died January 17, 1967.
She worked at Quick Meal Stove Company in St. Louis, MO and operated Marando Market in Colp, IL until her husband's death. She then worked for White Electric Company in Herrin until her retirement. She was a member of OLMC Catholic Church in Herrin and a member of the Daughters of Mary at the church and helped count the money envelopes on Sunday at the church.

The funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m .at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. The Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
