Jennifer Rae Harris

Herrin- JENNIFER RAE HARRIS, age 67, of Herrin, passed away at 12:05am on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Saint Louis University Hospital. Jennifer was born in Herrin on December 27, 1945, the daughter of Ray and Virginia (Hunsaker) Legan. She married Robert L. Harris, Sr. at the Herrin First Baptist Church on August 25, 1962. Together, they have shared over fifty years of marriage. He survives in Herrin. Mrs. Harris spent her life as a homemaker. She previously had worked as a cook at Herrin Middle School. Survivors include her husband- Robert L. Harris, Sr of Herrin Son- Robert L. Harris, Jr of Herrin Daughter and Son-in-law- Shelley and Mark W. Smith of Herrin Mother- Virginia Legan of Herrin Grandchildren- Robert L. Harris III and wife Briana of Zeigler Jamie L. Harris and husband-to-be Wade A. Lewis of Benton Kyle Smith and wife Kelley of Zeigler Ashley Hendrickson and husband Kendall of Zeigler Austin Smith of Herrin Great granddaughter- Makinley L. Harris of Zeigler Great grandson- Remington Raydel Smith of Zeigler Cousin- Darla Tippy of Herrin She was preceded in death by her father- Ray Legan, uncle- Bill Hunsaker, and great grandmother- Lillian Schaubert. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
