Marion-Jeremiah Cody South, 22, of Marion, died 2:46 P.M., Monday, June 13, 2005 at Herrin Hospital. He was born July 20, 1982 in Carbondale to Jim Bo & Susan (Mattingly) South. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He was employed by Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in maintenance. He was a 2001 graduate of Herrin High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He also enjoyed spending time with his fianc and playing with his daughter. Survivors Include: Parents: Jim Bo & Susan South of Marion Fiance: Tina Smith of Marion Daughter: Shalyn Marie South of Marion Son to be born in October 2005 Brother: David South of Marion Step-Grandmother: Peggy Mattingly of Herrin Uncle & Aunt: Rex & Debbie Piper of Herrin Uncle & Aunt: Mick & Colette Martin of Goreville Uncle & Aunt: Mike & Sheri South of Cahokia Aunt & Uncle: Tammy & Steve Augustine of Waterloo Uncle & Aunt: Richard & Patty Piper of Valdosta, GA. Aunt & Uncle: Jeanette & Mike Ladd of Pittsburg Aunt & Uncle: Terry & Larry Wallace of Missouri Aunt: Sandy Carpenter of Herrin Aunt & Uncle: Tonya & David Agnew of Dupo Uncle: Leo Jr. Sonny Mattingly of Energy Uncle & Aunt: Bill & Chris Mattingly of Herrin Uncle & Aunt: David & Tina Mattingly of Lake of Egypt Several Cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his brother: Josiah South, maternal grandparents, Leo & Betty Mattingly, paternal grandparents, John R. & Jeanette Ferguson, aunt, Frances Mattingly. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 17, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jeremiah South trust fund set his finance and his children.
