Jerry D. Davie, 65, of Marion passed away at 12:30 P.M. at his residence on November 10, 2002. Jerry was born on November 17, 1936 in Bush, IL to William ?Preach? and Winifred (Emerson) Davie. He married Shirley Smith on December 5, 1953 at Ellis Grove. Jerry was President of Davie Transfer Moving & Storage, Inc. in Marion. He attended Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post #1301 of Marion and a US Army Veteran. The Family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Southern IL for their loving & compassionate care. Dr. Mann and Jennie for being their and all their prayers during his long battle with cancer. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Davie of Marion, mother, Winifred Davie of Marion, Two sons and daughter in laws, Kevin D. & Beth Davie of Johnston City, Andrew & Katy Davie of Marion, two daughters, Cindy Nevatt of Branson, MO and Becky Jones of Carbondale. Nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, Brother and sister in law, Mike and Linda Davie of Harrisburg, sister and brother in law, Tammy and Terry Butler of Murphysboro, sister in law, Patti Davie of Mt. Prospect and several nieces and nephews His father, William ?Preach? Davie and his brother, Larry Davie, preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Null officiating. Military Rites will be performed by VFW Post #1301 of Marion. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes. Memorial may be made to Whiteash Freewill Church Building fund or Camp Jericho and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
