Jerry L. Davis, 68, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 7:01 A.M. at his home. Jerry was born August 24, 1941 in Pulleys Mill the son of Willard & Edna (Rodgers) Davis. Jerry spent his working years operating heavy equipment dozers and backhoes. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #318. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid gun collector. The pride of his life was his eight grandsons and his great granddaughter; he was a wonderful Papa. Jerry was previously married to Elaine Davis Eigenmann and together they had four children. Daughters - Laurie Chapman and husband Rick, Debbie Abbott and husband Philip and Son Danny Davis and wife Julie all of Marion. Jerry was preceded in death by Son Glenn Allen Davis, who passed away in infancy. Grandchildren; Joshua Chapman of St. Louis, MO, Caleb Chapman and wife Alicia of Marion, Daniel Chapman stationed at U.S. Air Force Base in Beale, California, Jacob Abbott, Steven Abbott and Luke Abbott, Julian Davis and Chancellor Davis all of Marion, Great Granddaughter Brylee Chapman of Marion. Brother Kenneth Davis of Garland, Texas, Two Sisters Linda Rice and husband Junior of Centralia and Lois Propes and husband Roger of Marion. Several nieces and nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by Parents. Funeral services will be Monday, March 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Dave Maragni officiating. Burial will follow in Cana Cemetery in Goreville. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4 8 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market, Marion, Illinois 62959.
