Centralia- Jerry Lee Russell, 67, of Centralia, formerly of Herrin, died at 12:55 PM, Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Friendship Manor in Nashville, IL. Jerry was born on September 12, 1935 in Herrin to Ed & Mabel (Rogers) Russell. He worked for forty years as a brick mason. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, and gardening. He also loved to barbeque. SURVIVORS: Special friend- Barbara Wharton and her children Stacy Phelps & Steve Nelms- Centralia Son & dau in law- Dr. Brian & Kim Russell- Springfield, IL Son & dau in law- Kent & Chris Russell- Herrin Dau & son in law- Shelley & Kevin Eveland- Overland Park, KS Dau & son in law- Jerri & Tommy Stritzel- Johnston City Sixteen Grandchildren Two Great Grandchildren Sister- Reba Brown- Wisconsin Sis & bro in law- Audry & Tom Hamilton- Naples, FL Sis & bro in law- Drucella & Harley Helms- Herrin Sis & bro in law- Betty & John Beltz- Ft. Myers, FL Sister- Dorothy Laurel- California Bro & sis in law- EC & Melba Russell- Herrin Brother- Buck Russell- Herrin Brother- Donald Russell- Springfield, IL He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Cindy Smith, sisters; Mary & Beverly Russell, and brothers; Basil & Clifford Tubby Russell. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Herrin City Cemetery. Rev. Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at the Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home or the cemetery.
