Jim Shotton

Marion- JIM SHOTTON, age 62, of Marion, passed away at 9:25pm on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Jim was born April 22, 1946 in Carbondale, the son of John A. and Margaret (Odum) Shotton. He married Marsha Holmes in Marion on July 1, 1966. Together, they have shared forty-two years of marriage. She survives in Marion. Mr. Shotton was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Jim was the owner of Jim Shotton Construction Company in Marion. He enjoyed golfing and loved spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife- Marsha Shotton of Marion, IL Daughter- Melanie and Jeff Pecord of Marion, IL Son- Craig and Kelly Shotton of Marion, IL Mother- Margaret Shotton of Marion, IL Eight Grandchildren- Chelsea, Taylor, and Brennan Pecord Jordan, Courtney, Shelby and Logan Shotton Boston Peyton Brother- John and Nina Shotton of Pinckneyville, IL Sister- Kay and David Atwood of Marion, IL Brother-In-Law- Lynn and Mikie Holmes of Marion, IL Several Nieces and Nephews Jim was preceded in death by his father- John A. Shotton. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Marion with Rev. Victor Long officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with military honors presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Unit. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the First united Methodist Church in Marion. Funeral arrangements are being handled through Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the First united Methodist Church in Marion or the Lake of Egypt Fire Department.
