Marion- Jimmie D. Jim Hess, 59, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday July 18, 2005 at 7:12pm at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, IL.
Jimmie was born June 4, 1946 in Marion, IL to Robert T. Bob and Margaret Lucille (Alsup) Hess.
Mr. Hess was a member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family. Jimmie worked as a coal miner at Kerr McGee, where he received many mining certificates. He was also in the US Navy, where he was a top-watch boiler, making repairs and organizing the repair crew. He received an honorable discharge, as well as many other medals and awards, from the Navy and later transferred to the Naval Reserves. Jim was very loved and will be sadly missed.

Preceded in death by-
His parents, a brother-Perry Dean Hess, several aunts and uncles, a special great niece-Angel Ann Sheppard, and a special sister-in-law- Barbara Hess.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday July 22, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, IL with the Rev. Michael Kniffen officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Herrin with military rites performed at graveside by the Herrin American Legion and VFW Posts. Visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Friday July 22, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
