MARION- Jo Ellen Weaver, age 80, of Marion, passed away at 5:47pm on Friday October 7, 2005 at her residence. Jo Ellen was born April 21, 1925 to Raymond and Glenna Pyle. She married Floyd Weaver on August 30, 1944. For over twenty years, she helped run the family farm and reared four sons. She earned an Associate in Technology Degree from SIU in 1965. To complete her dream of a college education, she graduated from SIU in 1972 with an art degree. After graduation, she moved to Charlotte, NC where she worked as a graphic artist for the public television station, WTVI. In order to satisfy her love of travel, she worked part time as a tour guide for Presley Tours of Carbondale. In her younger years, Mrs Weaver was part of a sewing club and was a quilter. She also liked plants and gardening. After she retired and returned to Marion, she assisted her son at Back-Achers Nursery. Survivors include- 4 sons- Larry Weaver- Marion, IL Wayne Weaver- Lake of Egypt, IL Mike and Phyllis Weaver- Atchison, KS Dennis and Alora Weaver- Orlando, FL 4 grandchildren- Stacie Hestbeck, David Weaver, Michel Weaver, and Elizabeth Rosenfeld 2 great grandchildren-Ryan Hestbeck and Skylar Rosenfeld 3 sisters- Vivian Decker- West Lafayette, IN Shirley Marine- San Antonio, TX Lila Mistic- Peoria, IL Several Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by parents. As per her wishes, her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held for Jo Ellen at 1:00pm on Saturday October 15, 2005 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Michael Neubert officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation at the funeral home on Saturday October 15, 2005 from 11am until the time of the memorial service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
