Joe Shelton

Herrin- Joe Shelton, age 86, of Herrin, passed away at 4:00pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Herrin Hospital. Joe was born in Hurst on July 20, 1932, the son of Herman and Flora Mae (Fann) Shelton. He married Shirley Jean Dailey in Marion on December 23, 1951. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2001.  Prior to his retirement, Joe worked as a diesel mechanic. Survivors include his son- Dennis Shelton of Herrin Grandchildren- Jeremy and Millicent McBride of Marion Brianna and Virgil Howell of Carterville Rachel Shelton of Carterville Zach Shelton of Carbondale Christopher Shelton of Herrin Great Grandchildren- Madyson, Abbi, Blake, Jaycen, Hayden, Easton, Chance, and Makayla Niece- Barbie Simpkins of Carterville He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son- Bobby Shelton, brothers, and one sister. Memorial graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy with Rev. Don Colson officiating.   Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery at 12:30pm for a time of visitation and memories, prior to the start of the memorial service.
