Johanna Pollack

Herrin- Johanna Pollack, 101, of Herrin, passed away at 2:40 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Johanna was born on June 3, 1908 in Riverton, IL to Louie & Marie Klun. She married Harry Pollack and he preceded her in death in 1960. Mrs. Pollack was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Survivors include- Son in law- Joe Castrale of Herrin Nephew- John Klun of Flint, MI She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, beloved daughter- Geneva Castrale, granddaughter- Rebecca Castrale, three brothers- John, Louis & Ludwig Klun and one sister- Marie Mientus. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. The family requests no flowers and memorial donations are suggested to Shawnee Christian Nursing Center or a charity of the donors choice and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St./ Herrin, IL 62948.
