Herrin John E. Delashmet, 76, of Herrin and Naples, Florida, the loving husband of Eva Carole Delashmet, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 11:05 P.M. at Hospice Care in Naples.
John was born in Osceola, Arkansas on February 13, 1931 to Howell Burel and Ava (Alsup) Delashmet. He married Eva Carole Miskelly on November 30, 1992 in Paducah, Kentucky and she survives in Herrin and Naples.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1950 1954. Retiring from the Dade Correction Institution in 1998.
Besides his wife John is survived by three sons, Mike Delashmet and wife Lupy of Naples, Florida, Carl Dean and wife Kim of Paulton, IL, Bryan McClintock and wife Rachel of Herrin. Five daughters, Sandra Delashmet of Pekin, IL, Cynthia Hodges and husband James of East Prairie, MO, Jolean Flores of Miami, FL, Barbara Listen and husband William of Murphysboro and Alicia Hall and husband Bryan of Woodlawn. Seven grandsons and ten granddaughters, seven great grandsons and eight great granddaughters. Three brothers, Howell Delashmet, Jr. and wife Margaret of Kennesville, FL, Ancil Eugene Delashmet and wife Elizabeth of Gaffney S.C., and Roger Delashmet and wife Eva of Naples, FL. Two sisters, Lois Carden and husband Richard of Steelville, MO and Gloria Ann Coombs of Cuba, MO. Many nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends and a very special group of his Old Dogs Club.
Preceded by Parents, grandson Christopher Bowman, brother, Jerry Delashmet, three infant brothers and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Derrick Downes officiating. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery in Creal Springs. Military rites will be performed by Marions VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
