John H. Sherrard

HERRIN- John H. Sherrard, age 80, of Herrin, passed away at 5:28pm on Monday February 6, 2006 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. John was born in Herrin on August 8, 1925 to John Joseph and Stella (Daugherty) Sherrard. He married Wanda McPheron on December 23, 1947 in Johnston City. She preceded him in death on April 13, 1999. Mr. Sherrard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnston City. He was a decorated Navy Veteran of World War II. Survivors include- Son and Daughter-In-Law- John and Karen Sherrard- Marion, IL Grandchild- John C. (and Melissa) Sherrard- Marion, IL Great Grandchild- Abigail Sherrard- Marion, IL Sister- RosaBelle Briscoe- Johnston City, IL Brother-In-Law- Junior McPheron- Creal Springs, IL Sister-In-Law- Dorothy Sherrard- Herrin, IL Sister-In-Law- Gloria Barker- Murphysboro, IL Several nieces and nephews John was preceded in death by his wife-Wanda, his parents, and one son- Gregory Sherrard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday February 10, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with military rites performed by Marion's American Legion Post 147 and VFW Post 1301. Visitation will be held from 10am-11am on Friday February 10, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
