John Hundley, Jr.

John Hundley, Jr. 87, of Paducah, Kentucky  formerly of Marion, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 5:15 pm at Metropolis Nursing Home. John was born December 9, 1927 in Energy the son of John and Eva (Snyder) Hundley, Sr.  He married Wanda Downs on September 3, 1949 in Herrin and together they have shared over 65 years of marriage. He was a Navy veteran proudly serving his country during WWII.  John was a member of the Lake of Egypt Christian Church, Lawn Masonic Lodge #0815 in Oak Lawn Illinois.  He retired from Continental Can Company in Chicago. John and Wanda moved to Chicago in 1949 and returned to Marion in 1988 following his retirement.  During his retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and traveling but his greatest enjoyment was the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his; Wife – Wanda Hundley of Paducah, Kentucky Daughter – Carolyn Pedersen and husband Robert of Paducah, Kentucky Three grandchildren; Robert Pedersen II and wife Jessica of West Paducah, Kentucky John Pedersen and wife Charlotte of Austin, Texas Michelle Pedersen of Chicago Two great grandchildren; Ryan Pedersen Carter Pedersen Sister – Judy Hanson of Ft. Myers, Florida Several nieces and nephews Preceded by her Parents, Daughter – Jeanie Hundley, Brother – Jimmy Hundley, Three sisters – Wanda Mae Robinson, Ella Dee Bordener and Thelma Edwards. Funeral services will be Friday, March 20, 2015 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Brother Leroy Waggoner officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillcrest  Cemetery in Carterville.  Military rites will be presented by members of the Marion VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and the Navy detail unit. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4 – 7 pm at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 6 pm on Thursday evening. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
