HERRIN- JOHN K. HOVENGA, 54, of Herrin, passed away at 12:03pm on Tuesday
August 9, 2005 at the Herrin Hospital.
John was born on July 24, 1951 in Charles City, Iowa to Harm and Marian
(Hinders) Hovenga. He married Lynola Palmer in Herrin on April 4, 1975. She
survives in Herrin.
Mr. Hovenga was a heavy equipment operator with E.T. Simon Construction
Company. John was a member and Deacon at Hurricane Baptist Church. He was an
avid fly fisherman.

Daughter- Tracy (and husband David) Galloway- Herrin, IL
Granddaughter- Brittany Galloway-Herrin, IL
Grandson- Johnathon Galloway- Sesser, IL
Parents- Harm and Marian Hovenga- Johnston City, IL
Sister- Elaine (and husband Jerry) Kenner- Herrin, IL
Brother- Stanley (and wife Tammy) Hovenga- Carterville, IL
Several nieces and nephews
Preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday August 12, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Johnson-
Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, IL with Rev. Ralph Brandon and Dr. Randy Grace
co-officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will
be held from 6-9pm on Thursday August 11, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home
in Herrin.
