John Kyler "Jack" Kosharek

Marion John Kyler Jack Kosharek, 70, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 7:20 P.M. at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Jack was born September 9, 1939 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin the son of John W. & Beatrice (Hamilton) Kosharek. He married Barbara Cecere on December 18, 1965 in Van Nuys, California and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2003. On March 22, 2004 in Scott City, Missouri he married Phyllis Pulley and she survives. He was a member of the Disciples of Christ 1st Christian Church in Marion. John was retired after working as a kiln operator in Jackson, Missouri. Jack loved nature, his family, animals, the simple life and he was devoted all his life to the Boy Scouts of America. He earned his Eagle Scout Badge and encouraged other boys to earn theirs. He was good hearted and was always helping people in need. He was a mentor to many young boys. His two granddaughters were his pride and joy. He will be missed by family, friends and his beloved pets Ginger and Sam. Survivors include; Wife Phyllis Kosharek of Marion Two Sons; Kevin Kosharek and wife Melinda of Bloomington, Illinois Keith Kosharek and wife Christine of Bloomington, Illinois Two Granddaughters; Abigail & Sabrina Kosharak Sister Judith Odell and husband Randolph of Houston, Texas Preceded by his Parents and first wife Barbara Kosharek Funeral services will be Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Larry Rouse and Pastor Bill Rucker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be Thursday at 3 P.M. in Lightener Cemetery in Scott City, Missouri. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
